Root the Samsung Galaxy Y S5360
Read and follow our step-by-step guide on how to root your Samsung Galaxy Y.
Important Reminders
- Pump up your battery power to at least 60% power or more to keep your device alive all throughout the rooting process
- To preserve your phone data and files, create a backup of all your data before rooting your device.
- Terminate all system tools such as antivirus software, firewall programs, and Samsung KIES. These programs might interfere during the rooting process.
- Enable USB debugging on your device. You can do that by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging.
- Makes sure your device is the Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360.
- Root your device at your own risk. We will not be held responsible for any damage arising from the use of this guide.
Instructions
- Download the Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 root package here.
- Using your USB cable, connect your device to your computer.
- Copy the downloaded file to your device’s storage.
- Unplug your device from your computer.
- Turn off your mobile phone.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and Home key (middle button) simultaneously, while tapping the Power button to boot the phone into recovery mode.
- Using the Volume keys, highlight “install zip from sd card” and tap the Power button to select.
- Locate and select the rooting package file (update.zip). This will initiate the rooting process on your phone.
- When the rooting process is complete, your mobile device will automatically reboot. At this point, your device has been rooted.
- Download the BusyBox installer APK file from here.
- Use your USB cable to reconnect your phone to the computer
- Copy the busybox installer APK file to your device’s external microSD card.
- Install BusyBox on your device.
- Disconnect your phone from the computer.
- Switch off your device and reboot it into Recovery mode.
- Select “Wipe data/factory reset” and confirm your action on the next screen.
- Select “Wipe Cache Partition” and confirm your action on the next screen.
- Go back to the main menu and select “Reboot system now” to restart your phone.
